Kilkenny Steiner School is an independent Steiner-Waldorf school, and as such we receive no funding from the Department of Education. In fact, we are a rare alternative to the state-run primary system in Ireland. Our independence enables us to deliver our curriculum without compromises. Our pedagogy, curriculum, and policies are overseen by our College of Teachers, and our Board of Trustees is responsible for the school’s physical, legal and financial well being.
While we are keeping our fees at a minimum, the costs to run our school can not be met from school fees alone. We are not big spenders. We pay our teachers conservative salaries, along with a minimal amount of other wages; everything else is done on a voluntary basis by the parents of our school. But, this situation is becoming unsustainable and we have dreams and
aspirations.
This is why we need your help.
● We value our teachers, and don’t want to worry about fairly compensating them.
● We want to make this education accessible to as many children as possible, that is
why we are creating a bursary program.
● We want to buy our current school buildings and some additional land. This will give
us security of tenure, and much needed space for play and future development.
● We hope to grow our school, with the aim of forming a secondary level, where our
current students can be assured of continuing their education with us.
We will be grateful for any support. Whether a short- or long-term loan, a financial gift, a lifelong patronage, or if you would consider leaving a legacy, please consider making a donation.
